Obasanjo exports cassava bread to Tanzania

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has travelled to Tanzania with a mission of introducing to the East African country and others Nigeria’s innovation in cassava bread baking.
Obasanjo, a goodwill ambassador for the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), took the bread to Tanzania where he publicly munched it with the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Mrisho Jakaya Kikwete.

Second Phase Cashless Policy To Begin In July – CBN

The second phase of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN’s cashless initiative will begin July 1, 2013, Deputy Governor, Operations, CBN, Mr. Tunde Lemo, confirmed at the weekend.
According to him, the planned extension of the cashless policy to five states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from July 1 still holds. The states to implement the cashless initiative include Rivers, Kano, Anambra, Ogun and Abia as well as the FCT.

Tears shed as Man Utd boss Ferguson broke news to staff, players in three separate meetings

Tears were shed as Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson informed his players and staff this morning that he would be retiring.
The Daily Mail says the 71-year-old arrived at the club as normal at 6.50am, before hastily arranging three separate meetings with his first-team squad, his technical and coaching staff, and finally the rest of the staff at Carrington.

LATEST NEWS ON JAMB ANALYSIS



 The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB said yesterday that only 10 candidates scored 300 marks and above in the last Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, in the country even as some candidates printed customised shirts and T-shirts where anticipated answers were prepared to cheat during the examination.
JAMB Registrar, Professor, ‘Dibu Ojerinde who made this known in Abuja while addressing newsmen said that 40 centres were involved in cheating during the examination, where some candidates paid between N5,000 and N20,000 to be allowed to cheat.

Fashola Launches Audio-visual Kit For Drivers

Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, yesterday inaugurated Drivers’ Education Multilingual Audio-Visual Training Aid, while he stressed the need for effective adherence to road safety measures in the state.
Inaugurating the self-training kit tagged Defensive Driving in Ikeja, Fashola said the visual-audio kit, produced in Nigeria’s major languages would help to sensitise residents, especially drivers, on road safety measures.

Three men were forcibly removed from an annual culture festival in Saudi Arabia and subsequently sent back to the UAE after it was deemed that women could find them irresistible.

The delegates from the UAE were in attendance at the Jenadrivah Heritage & Culture Festival in Riyadh, the Saudi capital when religious police officers stormed the stand and evicted the men because “they are too handsome,” according to the Arabic language newspaper, Elaph.
