A section of a train returning from Ijoko in Lagos State to its base
at Eb*tte Metta, Lagos on Wednesday derailed at Agege, in an incident
said to have been caused by defective tracks.
As of 11am on Wednesday, the scene of the accident had been cordoned off by policemen from the Railway police.

Obasanjo exports cassava bread to Tanzania
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has travelled to Tanzania with a
mission of introducing to the East African country and others Nigeria’s
innovation in cassava bread baking.
Obasanjo, a goodwill ambassador for the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), took the bread to Tanzania where he publicly munched it with the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Mrisho Jakaya Kikwete.

Senior lawyers divided over state of emergency

Senior lawyers are divided over the declaration of state of emergency by the President.
While some lawyers described the President broadcast as odd that could create confusion rather than solve the problem others applauded the move.
Speaking with National Mirror on the development last night, fiery lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, commended the president for not demolishing democratic structures in the affected states. “President Jonathan can declare a state of emergency, but he has to go to the National Assembly for approval, under section 305.

Second Phase Cashless Policy To Begin In July – CBN
The second phase of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN’s cashless
initiative will begin July 1, 2013, Deputy Governor, Operations, CBN,
Mr. Tunde Lemo, confirmed at the weekend.
According to him, the planned extension of the cashless policy to five states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from July 1 still holds. The states to implement the cashless initiative include Rivers, Kano, Anambra, Ogun and Abia as well as the FCT.
